Rendezvous

Since the weather is still a bit too hot, my hubby and I took some time to enjoy a few places in Fashion Island, Newport Beach.

This place always has a beautiful and inviting entrance. The palms remind me of Hawaii without being there.

This big dog was our greeter as we walked closer to the entrance. Cute and big.

Wonder what kind of kiss he gives his master. Probably a big happy wet one.

Gone Surfin

Hot days of Southern California heat drives me to learn a bit of surfing.
Mary at www.girlinacurl.com gave me some fun days learning with her at Doheney State Beach in Dana Point. She has been in business for years and is the best. Take a look at her booth, so inviting with a feel that your in Hawaii. Her store is just around the corner with lots of great finds.

It took two of us to get this long board out. Ready for a drip in the ocean now.

Paddling out is truly a work out but the fun part is riding the wave into shore.

Love her van that she loads with all her boards and wet suits for her girls.

As the evening nears the seagulls and clouds come in just before the sun sets.

We'll I will not do filing and my office chores for now. Mr. Binx thought I should do something else on the "To Do" list.

Ryder Roo at 5 Months

This little guy is just a hoot. Following me around and often much faster than I. I look down and this is the look I get. Sure to give me a smile.

Now to teach him some jumping tricks. That explains the Roo in his name. Only 6 lbs.....

Turf meets the Surf - Del Mar - California

Hubby and I headed to Del Mar to see the horses run at this beautiful racetrack.

Love this horse weather vein.

The viewing area is always planted with colorful flowers.

A winner, he is a handsome throughbred.

Just around the block we had a great meal here at Brigantine Seafood.

A view from our table of the racetrack, during the last race as hot air balloons surprise us as they go up one at a time. Not such a good pic, but it was a sight.

While strolling through the Brigantine gardens, I found this mosaic waterfall.

The tile at the barbeque was just as inviting.

A safe place for a bird, but the door was closed, so no feathered friend.

Some of the strange things I found in the garden, is this flower. Don't know what the name might be. The tree or vine branch was large, as if it has been there for many years.

The weather was perfect, the company great, being with the horses was my place to be.

Escape to the Beach

We'll we were all dressed for a Luau but Hubby left the directions at work. So.... We had a date in Laguna : }

I so miss my pa. We went to Laguna Beach often and we have passed this sign hundreds of times. Had to very quickly put my head out the car sun roof to capture this.

Just in time to see the sunset of the Hunt.

Even Laguna Village and many stores are gone in this little Laguna Beach town.

The character still remains....

Oh yes, a bit of lace on the curtains.

Pup Bath for Ryder

Our little Ryder Rue had a bath today. He did a good job and did'nt make too much of a fuss. My birds (daughters) share this little pup, but hubby and I think he is part ours too. He sure can jump and I can't help calling him Ryder Rue, like a baby Kangaroo. Not sure how to spell the Rue part of his name yet but he sure knows his name.

Summer Hot Day

A relief from house chores and the summer heat... A swim in a friends refreshing pool with my daughter and some time at the beach was just what I needed for the week-end. It is always so nice to share fun times together since she is growing up so fast.

Amongst my collections of many favorite things, one being catalogs, they inspire my creative variety of interests too.

These pictures capture my spirit and remind me to slow down. The chores will be waiting but life is flying by. I hope you can feel the calm and simple but creative fun ways to play during this summer. TOAST inspires just that: www.toast.co.uk/

Newport Coast Get-a-Way
