Starbuck

A visit to Starbuck's coffee is a favorite spot for me from time to time. This Gypsy Vanners name is Starbuck. A treat for me in place of the coffee. The wait to ride is driving me a bit crazy. Can't wait much longer. My next stop will be with this handsome Starbuck. He loves his playtime. I love to watch his free spirit.

See his white Star? Feathers? Love this guy!

So powerful but so very tender. Save gas, ride a horse.

I Seek, at the Sea

Today, seeking the power to find what my future should be. Hiding the truth has become a hard thing for me to do now. Will I be captured, as I feel I'm am falling..... High above I look to find the answers, I look at the turning tide below as the ocean roars. Somehow my own storm has left me with nothing left to say. Gone is the world, I once felt I had hunger for. My heart is broken, my soul is torn apart.

I've lost my way in this storm.

Porch Magazine

As I've been making some progress unpacking boxes and working hard to focus on where I create, my studio.

I'm learning to select just my favorite creative supplies, very hard to do! I love to donate the supplies I just don't use anymore. It feels good to donate and I look forward to it. For years I've taken a truck load of various items to one of my favorite organizations in Southern California. Laura's House, a safe place to help protect and counsel families of domestic violence. They always welcome any art supplies because they use them as part of their recovery programs.

Purging those things we just don't use or need anymore is good therapy for me. Maybe many others too.? I enjoy being organized, once I'm finished. It seems to help me think more clearly, at the same time I enjoy looking through artwork unfinished, and finished from years past.

During my process, I realized I'm a collector of various items. Soon, I'll be posting some images of my various collections. I'm sure we all have collections of different kinds.

Today, I'm sharing a new magazine collection I truly enjoy as it has picked up my spirits in the past few months, since my father passed. Take a look, I believe you will enjoy this magazine too.

Porch is a beautiful magazine geared to bloggers. Take a look a this months issue.

This issue is right up my alley, since I truly love the romantic era this cover captures this season of Spring.

Someday, I will find my own bodice but I will be patient since I'm looking for just the right one. Each Porch has a bit of this and that for people who also create. Just love the variety and I'm sure there are more ideas to come.

Valentines Day is a favorite holiday for me. I don't have this issue yet, but have it on order through Porch-Magazine.blogspot.com.

You can order your issues too! They ship quickly and the customer service to great.

My break is up, so I must scoot and keep on track unpacking in my creative ways, as I setup my place where I create, my Studio for all the whispers I gather for my art from my heart.

I have another studio to prepare for, which means getting all the boxes unpacked as quick as possible since I've been deeply missing my Pilates machine for way to long. So I will carry on now with my mission, to keep unloading.

I asked for permission to post these images by Polly at Porch. I hope you enjoyed my little collection of Porch-Magazine. Take a look at their blog and select a few to purchase for your own collection. I'm sure it will lift your spirits and inspire you too.

Warmly,
Karla

The Flicka in Me

I grew up with horses, these days seem like I'm truly not myself without one. Flicka is a movie that is very much a part of my life story. If you understand the feeling of a bond so strong? Riding without a saddle in a full canter, is the greatest trust and true thrill I miss daily.

The photography of this captured image is inspiring, as well.

Directed by Michael Mayer and based on the book My Friend Flicka by Mary O'Hara.

I will hold on to my dream to have a horse again.

My husband says no. But I say yes.

One day, oh yes....

Signs of Spring

As I fill my days with unpacking boxes and making this house feel like a new nest, I'm enjoying many beautiful birds that live in this little canyon with many mature trees to attract these feathered friends. I hope to find my Bird book in a box, to learn a bit about them all.

I have much more to do to get this place in order but took a break to get back to posting more on my blog. I sure enjoyed teaching my Dad what a blog was, and after that he routinely checked to see if I had posted something new. Love that......

I came across on of many magazine pages I collect for photography styles, my journals, expressions, etc. for some sort or another.

TOAST is just what I needed for a break while I stay busy with my task at hand.

Don't forget to look outside too.

Mr. Binx meets Lil mouse - Charlotte

My spirit has been feeling very heavy and sad. Hopping around Blog-land, I'm learning is a way I feel comfort.

This admire as an author-artist-designer, Charlotte Lyons really has a impressive list of many talents. I took a great class from her over a year ago, in the Fall, at a fun art gathering. Silver Bella is a four day event of Mixed-Media artists and teachers, gathering of talented artist and students to learn new arts which is held in Omaha Nebraska every Fall, around November. I felt her genuine and friendly character as well a truly inspiring personality, as I had an opportunity to mingle and chat during the event.

Her Etsy store was filled with these daring Lil mice and I now I have her in my studio. (Which is under construction)

When Lil Charlotte mouse arrived, Mr. Binx, our house clown, shared this very cute moment. It only took seconds for Mr. Binx to fall in love. He gave her a hug, greeting, and a bath as well. He truly loved her wool coat. Looks like Charlotte will have to have a special place for safety.

A captured Valentine's to remember. A fun tickle to my spirit and yours too..

Pansy Garden between Rain Storms

Each year as the weather would turn cool enough, my Father and I would go on our hunt to our favorite nurseries to gather Pansies and Johnnie Jump-Ups. I missed having him beside me on this journey as I looked out for just the perfect ones. I was delighted to find his favorite colors....

FG.JohneyJumpUps

This boy statue sitting with his book, reading in the garden, was a favorite past-time for my Dad as he always had a good book with him or worked a cross word puzzle while I played in the dirt planting. We both felt a nurturing in our souls as we'd catch the light sweet scent from the pretty colored flowers.

These red vines are the same as Black Eyed Susan's. They have a beautiful bright yellow center. (Which I could not capture in these photos).

This Angel waterfall is still waiting to be hooked up, since our move. I enjoy the peaceful calmness I feel when I hear the sounds this fountain creates in my garden.
FG-WaterFountainAngl

After our day together, in the garden, we shared a cool drink and reflected on natures own artistic beauty.

A new storm arrives tonight. The rains will keep me on track for much bigger projects indoors to do, since we have just really begun to nest a bit. Many boxes to unpack, organize, and of course decorate to make it feel more like home.

Looking forward to the Valentine's week-end....... Are you ready? I will be.

Warmly,
Karla

Wings I lack, will to be found again......

A stunning moment captured during the birth (just over 4 months ago), of Spirit, a Gypsy Vanner. Gpysy Vanners are breed in 3 different sizes, having lots of muscle in stature, from under 14 hands to over 16. Pleasantly known to have very gentle spirits whom share love for human affection. Having lots of smarts, makes them very easy to train for any kind of riding. Gypies make for a wonderful family horse, having delightful personalities which become a long time friend for many years.......

I hope you enjoy too.....

Happy Birthday Daddy

Open-Gate-Daddy

May the blessing of God's soft rain
be on you, falling gently on your grave and spirit,
refreshing your soul with the sweetness
of summer flowers newly blooming.

May God bless you Dad on this special day, your Birthday.
Keep you safe, keep you whole,
and keep you protected in heaven from harm’s way.

I pray you will be proud, as you look down on me from heaven and know I'll try my best to make you see, you have been my biggest fan and your encouragement will help me heal and grow into that person you saw me to be. You helped me through all those back surgies and I know you felt so helpless. You always understood my physical pain and felt horrible about the mistakes and carelessness those doctors had, as they were rated the best in the nation and around the world. Ha.....

I know my life will never be the same as I deal with the pain, but I will continue to remember your love, and your words to never give up on my dreams.

I'm blessed we had many sincere and truly wise conversations spoken between us just before you passed.

I miss you Daddy! It's so hard, your not here now, when I need you so much!

God, Please let the Angels kiss and hug him for me. And tell him it's from the deepest part of my loving heart....

I Love You Daddy and Happy Birthday
XOXO
Karla

Rain in Southern California

806
The weather is quite wet, windy, and a bit cold, and I like it all. I can hear the frogs croaking to each other around the neighborhood enjoying the rainy days. We really need this rain to keep nature fed.

I'm at a stage in life these days that looks just like this ship without a sail, stuck in the mud from a stormy sea. At least it's still sitting upright. Ha....

Maybe the sun will shine on my soul soon.

Warmly,
Karla
